 | THE START OF LENT | | | | | What are you giving up? | Posted by Janine Beattie on 22/02/2012 @ 07:00 |
What happened to the last few months? It seems like only yesterday that it was Christmas and now Lent has begun and it's a time for giving things up! However, I am not religious, so this blog post has to be taken as it comes. You're probably wondering how Lent has anything to do with my business, but surprisingly it has ...
for the next 40 days, are you going to do it now or later?
Making the decision to start your own business is about giving lots of things up! It's about giving up many luxuries that you take for granted - and sometimes some important necessities - in favour of your reaching your long term goals.
You give up financial security, regular office hours, the politics that invariably go with it and the secret Santa at the Christmas party! But these are all a small price to pay if your goals are to be achieved - and - of course, the biggest benefit of starting your own business is that you get to rule your own destiny. So how on earth does all this tie into Lent?
Let's use this time as a great excuse to prepare for - and work towards - our long term plan. Make sure you know what that plan is and how you're going to achieve it to the timescales you set yourself. Make some changes (and sacrifices) in the short term to ensure everything is better in the long run. And over the next 40 days and nights work hard, work smart and work more effectively, efficiently - and - of course, always measure your results.
If you do want to give something up, then try this; don't wait for things to happen, make them happen. Give up procrastination as it is the worst-form of self-sabotage!
So here I am again; my second business blog and it's about me again! I'm hoping that by adding a little about myself each time you'll get to know me and understand my world a little, as well as add some value to your business as I go!
In my next few blog posts, I aim to provide you with useful nuggets that you can take back into your own world and see tangible results with your business as it continues to grow.
I very much look forward to our journey together!
Until next time ...
